One of Rochester's best-loved natural landmarks is in need of urgent conservation works. This website aims to boost public awareness, support and sponsorship for what we believe to be England's oldest living example of the American Indian Bean Tree or Catalpa Bignonioides.
You can use the main menu to find out lots more about Catalpa trees, the amazing history behind Rochester's one and the different ways to show your support. There's also an image gallery containing photographs conveying both the beauty, fragility and current plight of this unusual and unique tree. We'd also love to hear from other owners of Catalpa trees and we might even provide a platform for you to get together and discuss your trees and exchange stories, suggestions and photographs.
